Gaming and Self-Care: Creating a Balanced Week
This week at Mud Club, we’re thinking about balance — what it looks and feels like to enjoy gaming as part of a full, healthy life. 💜 Members will explore how intentional self-care habits before, during, and after gaming can make the whole experience more enjoyable and sustainable.
This Week’s Activities
🏡 Build Challenge — Video Games
⛏️ Survival Quest — Task List Challenge
🕶️ Quest VR Spotlight — Beat Saber
🎥 Stream Adventures — A Pirate's Treasure
🧰 Weekly Tool Idea — Jellyfish Lamp
💡 Why This Theme Matters
Self-care isn’t about stepping away from the things you love — it’s about making sure those things continue to feel good over time. Teaching kids to pair gaming with sleep, hydration, movement, and social connection helps them build a relationship with technology that is healthy and sustainable. A well-rested, well-regulated gamer is also a better gamer.
Ways to Support at Home
Help your child plan their gaming time alongside other activities this week — not instead of them
Check in on the basics: are they sleeping enough, drinking water, eating before they play?
Talk about what “feeling good after gaming” versus “feeling drained after gaming” looks like
Encourage one non-screen activity they enjoy — even something small and low-effort
Try Asking Your Child
“What did you do to take care of yourself this week outside of gaming?”
“How do you know when you’ve had enough screen time for the day?”
Balance looks different for every person — and your child is learning what it looks like for them. This week, they’re building habits that will help them enjoy gaming for the long haul. 🎮💜
