Player’s Voice: Empowering Self-Advocacy Through Gaming

This week at Mud Club, we’re finding our voice — practicing the skill of speaking up for ourselves, sharing ideas, and asking for what we need with confidence and respect. 💜 Members will look for opportunities to contribute their perspective and advocate for themselves and others, both in-game and beyond.

This Week’s Activities

⛏️  Survival Quest  —  Ask for Help

🕶️  Quest VR Spotlight —  Hyper Dash

🎥  Stream Adventures  —  Dragon Slayers

🧰  Weekly Tool Idea  —  Gratitude Journal

💡 Why This Theme Matters

Self-advocacy — knowing what you need and being able to ask for it — is one of the most important life skills we can help kids develop. Gaming environments offer a natural, engaging space to practice sharing ideas, making suggestions, and speaking up respectfully. These moments of in-game voice build the confidence kids need to advocate for themselves at school, at home, and in their communities.

Ways to Support at Home

  • Ask your child if there was a moment this week when they spoke up or shared an idea

  • Create space at home for them to share opinions — and genuinely listen

  • Model self-advocacy yourself — show them what it looks like to ask for what you need

  • Validate their voice even when you don’t agree — being heard matters

Try Asking Your Child

“Did you share an idea or speak up for something this week — what happened?”

“What’s something you’d like more of — in a game, at home, or at school?”

Your child’s voice matters — in the game and in the world. This week, they’re practicing the courage it takes to use it. 🎮💜
