Embracing Autonomy: Building Confidence Through Choices in Gaming
This week at Mud Club, we’re exploring what it means to trust yourself — making independent choices, trying things on your own, and building the confidence that comes from knowing you can figure it out. 💜 Members will take on solo missions and reflect on what they’re capable of when they back themselves.
This Week’s Activities
🏡 Build Challenge — Trains and Planes
⛏️ Survival Quest — Solo Mission
🕶️ Quest VR Spotlight — Among Us
🎥 Stream Adventures — The Chambers
🧰 Weekly Tool Idea — Dry Erase Calendar/Board
💡 Why This Theme Matters
Autonomy — the ability to make decisions and act independently — is a key part of growing confidence and self-trust. When kids practice making choices in a low-stakes gaming environment, they build the courage to do the same in everyday life. Learning when to ask for help and when to back yourself is a skill that takes time and practice to develop.
Ways to Support at Home
Give your child space to problem-solve on their own before stepping in
Celebrate the attempt, not just the outcome — trying solo is the win
Ask them about a decision they made this week that they felt proud of
Talk about the difference between needing help and wanting reassurance — both are valid
Try Asking Your Child
“What did you try on your own this week — how did it go?”
“How do you know when to ask for help and when to keep trying yourself?”
Confidence isn’t something you wait for — it’s something you build by doing. This week, your child is learning to back themselves, one solo mission at a time. 🎮💜
