Emote Like a Pro: Enhancing In-Game Reactions
Communication in games isn’t always about words! 😄🎮 This week, members will explore how emojis, emotes, movement, gestures, and other in-game reactions can help us communicate appreciation, excitement, encouragement, and connection.
This Week’s Activities
🏡 Build Challenge — Spectacular Towers
⛏️ Survival Quest — Emote Your Thanks
🕶️ Quest VR Spotlight — Ancient Dungeon
🎥 Stream Adventures — The Kingdom's Warning
🧰 Weekly Tool Idea — 3D Printing Pen
💡 Why This Theme Matters
Communication can look different for everyone. Learning to notice and use multiple forms of communication gives kids more ways to express themselves and understand others — especially in digital environments where facial expressions and body language may be limited.
Ways to Support at Home
Talk about what different emojis or reactions communicate
Ask which forms of communication feel easiest for your child
Notice nonverbal ways your child communicates
Discuss how the same emoji can sometimes mean different things to different people
Try Asking Your Child
“What’s your favourite way to react to a teammate doing something awesome?”
“Are there times when an emoji or emote is easier than finding the right words?”
Communication comes in many forms — and finding the ones that work for you is part of becoming a confident communicator. 🎮💜
